| TOURS IN PIETROSUL RESERVE: | In the north part of Romania there is a mountain, Rodnei Mountains that, by its high, by its landscape that keeps the traces of the last glacial era by its glacial lakes or by its reach flora and fauna that has numerous unique spices, it is an area that by the first part of 20-th century was protected by law.
In the NW part of Rodna Mountains, the natural complex reservation Pietrosul Mare was established in 1932 and has a surface of 3 300 ha, being a scientific reserve, strictly protected where only the scientists can enter. In 1979 the area has been declared Natural Reserve and since 1997 the area was extended to its current surface of.Today is know under the name Rodna National Park . On elevation Rodna National Park is extending from 750 m to 2 303 m (Pietrosul Peak). The landscape was shaped by the last ice age (Pleistocene era) , a wide range of flora in Rodna National Park being unique or rare . Excepting the tallest peak – Pietrosul – others peaks go over 2 000 m: Buhaescul Mare 2122m ( 6 962 ft. ), Rebra 2 225m ( 7299 ft. ) Ineu 2 280m ( 7480 ft. ) Ineut 2 222m ( 7290 ft. ). The natural reservation includes the rocky ridges , glacial valleys and calderas (Zanoaga Mare, Zanoaga Mica, Lala Mare.) in some of this being glacial lakes : Lala Mare, Lala Mica, Buhaescu lakes. Some of the rare plants that can de find in Rodna National Park are specific to this part of the world: crucea pamântului land’s cross (Hercacleum Carpaticum) , the cliff’s flower edelweiss (Leontropodium alpinium) . Other plant are strictly protected: smirdarul, Tisa (Taxus baccata) is a pine tree remained in this region of Europe after the ice age, it is known to be growing in Siberia only. The fauna is also protected, we can remind you only a few of it: the black goat (Chamois) (Rupicapra Rupicapra Carpatica), the lynx ( Linx linx ), the Carpahians’ brown bear (Ursus arctos). In the restricted area there is a laboratory- chalet, check points and a meteorological station. The restricted area is laying between Izvorul lui Dragos spring and Repedea spring (the fast spring).
